Excerpt from Eat the World NYC:
Sometime a few years back, the owners of what used to be Yemen Cuisine in Cobble Hill decided to pack up the business and start fresh in Bay Ridge. As Atlantic Avenue seemed to be less and less conducive to operating a restaurant, 5th Avenue in their new neighborhood apparently has no limits for more and more Yemeni and other Middle Eastern-owned businesses.
This address has went through a few changes since the move, first keeping the name Yemen Cuisine in English, then changing to a sign only in Arabic that said Yemen Wahdah. Wahdah means "unity" in English, and it is this name that they seemed to have stuck with, offering both languages now on their sharp new sign.
Despite being old and frayed, the old laminated menus from Cobble Hill, still with the address from Court Street, have survived and prove the kitchen is still making everything the same way. Stickers have been placed over prices to offer new (higher) ones, but otherwise the feelings of their friendly hospitality are just as they always were. read less

Please note that the flavors are strong, ad not for everyone. It is, after all, a cultural cuisine.
I always order the chicken and hummus - it's a safe and simple choice. The hummus comes with great pita, and the chicken speaks for itself. The sauce is a savory, slightly sweet flavor, and you'd do well eating it with just the chicken, mixing it with the hummus or eating it with the pita. Go where your heart pleases!
There's also this DELICIOUSLY MOUTH WATERING SPICY SAUCE. It's a type of green sauce, and it's amazing! But beware, it is SPICY. read less

We got a take out of boiled lamb and the cultural dish with vegetables and okra. I was pleasently surprised to find soup and salad for 2 in my take out bag. It was very tasty.

#The bread is gigantic. It's like a pizza without toppings.
Ask for the #hot sauce. They'll give a green salsa type sauce. Makes the Lamb Haneez a lot #better.

They give you so much food for so little money. This guy who works there, who was not waiting on tables, came out to wait on me because the server I had didn't speak English. I gave a $4 tip for a $12 meal. Good customer service should always be rewarded. Anyways the food was fabulous as usual. And my "new waiter" was great. He was attentive and helpful. And again their prices are the best. I don't even think they charged me extra for the salad that I ordered with my meal. A reminder since this is an update:they always have Aseed, which is my favorite dish. Not every Yemeni restaurant in town does. read less

The tea is unlimited and so delicious. The crusty bean dish is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Completely affordable and large portions. Freshly baked and delicious bread. No complaints-- just delightful.
